Happenings

A fundamental part of our practices revolves around what we call happenings, à la Allan Kaprow and so many others. These are conversations, collaborations, critiques, provocations, presentations and interventions that don’t adhere to a single goal or aesthetic but allow us to play at the interface of art, justice, and place.


WxLA

WxLA is an advocacy initiative created in 2018 to encourage and lead efforts toward equality in landscape architecture.  The collective stands for transparency, leadership, and representation for womxn.  Re:public has a strong connection to WxLA – Cinda Gilliland is a founding member, Devon Miller is an inaugural scholar and Julie Gawendo was on their first Jury.

Women and Leadership in Design Salon

The Women and Leadership in Design evening salon was hosted by CMG Landscape Architecture in San Francisco, June 2019.  This event brought together landscape architects, architects, and urban designers to discuss how creating more equitable design practices and bold professional models develop and support the growth of women leaders.

I am Petaluma

I am Petaluma, started in 2022, is a vehicle for learning how to build community together through ownership and activation of our public spaces. The first initiative is working to transform Putnam Plaza into Petaluma’s “outdoor living room” with live community interactions, artwork, and performances.
